FACTS:

1. Pregnant women find it harder to lighten their hair – all due to hormonal changes.

2. If your hair colour is too dark, an intensive anti-dandruff shampoo will help lighten it a bit.

3. Red paints wash out quickly. It’s true – at first they are very expressive, but – because it is not a natural pigment, it quickly loses its intensity.

4. Hair care products really do make the color last longer – they acidify the hair and close the cuticles. Of course, this rule only works with good products.

5. The grey colour washes out to a nice, cool colour after a few washes – this is usually the case, so there is no need to worry if the blonde came out a bit too ash-coloured.

MYTHS:

1. Store-bought shampoo is more gentle than hair dye. Not true! Shampoos are just as strong as hair dye, and are often more troublesome for hairdressers because they are hard to remove from the hair.

2. Pregnant women should not dye their hair. Today, dyes, at least those from hairdressers, professional ones, are completely safe.

3. Many people think that applying highlighting is less damaging, but this is not true – this type of coloring is much more burdensome for the hair than regular dyeing.

4. Contrary to popular belief, henna is not healthy for hair. It has strong drying properties, washes out green (with cool colors), and it is extremely difficult for a hairdresser to remove such henna from the hair and save the color. In many cases, it is almost impossible and you have to wait until the hair grows out completely.

5. Before coloring, it is better not to wash your hair, then the dye will take better. On the contrary – then the dye will cover your hair worse. It is worth waiting 1-2 days before washing your head, but only if the hair is to be lightened with a bleach.

CARE

1. Before dyeing . Before dyeing, it is worth focusing on moisturizing the hair – the rule is that the healthier and more nourished the hair, the better the color looks. In addition – in accordance with what we wrote above, it is a myth that unwashed hair takes the dye better. Quite the opposite.

2. During a visit to the hairdresser. Hair should be treated appropriately also during the colouring process. A professional hairdresser uses good, relatively gentle dyes, but it is worth taking additional protection, because every colouring process is invasive to some extent. So how to take care of your hair? Olaplex has recently appeared on the market (we mentioned it in the context of blonde care here !). This is a product that – added to the dye – prevents hair from being damaged, and in fact becomes more nourished. It also works well in the case of lightening. It can be used as a separate reconstructive treatment and as an addition to the dye. So we have good news – the dream of colouring without damaging the hair has just come true!

3. After colouring . Sometimes women complain that the beautiful colour they had after leaving the hairdresser did not last long. This is often due to improper care. It is not without reason that appropriate lines of cosmetics for coloured hair were created. They allow you to maintain the beautiful colour. It is equally important that these are good quality cosmetics – drugstore shampoos often contain cheap and very aggressive cleaning agents. So it is no wonder if after 2 weeks our beautiful, cool blonde turns yellow. Speaking of blondes – they deserve special care. Choose blue or silver shampoos for them – they will cool the colour appropriately. With blondes, as with all types of hair, moisturising is important – especially after colouring. Befriend intensively nourishing masks and apply them once a week. Do not forget about using conditioners every day. And if you use a hair dryer, curling iron or straightener, invest in a product that protects against high temperatures – coloured hair is particularly sensitive to heat.

We could write endlessly about coloring, but the most important thing for colored hair is moisturizing, moisturizing and more moisturizing. In addition, remember about professional dyes (in good hair salons this shouldn’t be a problem), cosmetics designed for colored hair, protection during coloring and protection from high temperatures. And voilà! Beautiful hair is ready!
